Nesly Metayer takes charge at YOFES

Nesly Metayer, PhD, has been selected as the next Executive Director of Youth and Family Enrichment Services (YOFES), a 13-year-old non-profit community service organization that helps to build strong families through a range of programs targeted toward Greater Boston's Haitian community.

He began his tenure at YOFES on March 21, 2016.

Metayer is an accomplished manager, with deep experience in strategic management, organizational capacity-building, program implementation and creating partnerships with local communities, public and private foundations and government agencies. He has served in leadership positions at Tufts University, the Center for Public Management at Suffolk University, the Center for Community Health, Education & Research and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Haiti, and a Doctorate in Administration from the University of Paris-Sorbonne, and has been awarded several other degrees and fellowships. Metayer has strong connections with the Haitian Community in Boston as chair of Haitian-Americans United and as a volunteer at grassroots Haitian organizations. He also remains involved with Haiti, providing consultation to the State University of Haiti, grassroots groups and local government.

“We are delighted to welcome Nesly to YOFES,” said J. Lionel Lucien, Chair of the YOFES Board of Directors. “Nesly has the experience, personality, vision and passion that will help us open an exciting new chapter for YOFES. He will build upon our existing assets, including a committed leadership, a talented and dedicated staff, eagerly participating children and parents, and our many external partners. We are confident the community will enjoy working with him to strengthen our youth and families."

Metayer will succeed Dr. Nicole Prudent, the founding Executive Director of YOFES and a beloved, longtime Boston pediatrician who will remain active in working with YOFES to help serve the community’s health, educational and social needs. Youth and Family Enrichment Services, Inc. helps build strong families by engaging primarily Haitian youth of all ages and involving their families in After-School Programs, Music Education and Performance and Summer Enrichment, as well as Health Education for teens and young adults. We believe that all children should have access to quality education, enrichment opportunities, health care and a safe community in which to grow and thrive.
